Chapter Two

The POWER of the WORD (LOGOS)

One of the great unsolved mysteries is how Hitler was able to 'mesmerize' and mobilize the German people to do his bidding before and during World War II, in particular, to persecute and slaughter the Jewish people by the millions. Closely related to this important question is another, even more fundamental, question: Why was Hitler so obsessed with annihilating the Jewish people in the first place? As we shall shortly see, these two questions are not unrelated.

With regard to the first question above, in the opening paragraph of a chapter entitled "The ideographic struggle in Europe during the 1930s" in Dictionary of Symbols (p. 64), Swedish scholar Carl G. Liungman suggests the answer:

"The most successful and in many ways most conscious attempt to manipulate the masses with the help of ideograms was undertaken in Germany. It might even be true that Nazi Germany never would have come into existence without the use of ideograms."

In brief, the 'secret' to Hitler's success in manipulating the German people was the fact that he was a 'great - if evil - cultural communicator'. As one important example, let us look closely at the significance, in the German language and German mind, of the symbolism of the Nazi salute.

Much more appropriately referred to in German as 'der deutsche Gruß', because it was (and still is) a symbol of significance throughout the German language and culture, the German greeting - right arm fully extended forwards and slightly upwards with hand and fingers straight and pointing - has a multi-layered meaning. At the deepest level of the subconscious, or perhaps even in the unconscious, the German greeting is a powerful phallic symbol, a symbol of the male sexual organ, uncircumcised, fully erect, extended, and ready to penetrate or strike.

At the same time, this salute or gesture is a 'pictorial' representation of the 'answer' to an actual or assumed question or 'challenge', the question/'challenge' being "Wie geht es Ihnen?" (or 'Euch', if used in the familiar sense as Hitler did with the German soldiers) (How does it go for you?): "Hervorragend!" (Excellent!).

'Hervorragend', a close etymological calque of 'excellent', also means, literally, 'protruding upwards and forwards' - in other words, exactly descriptive of the male sexual organ when excited. Thus, every time the German greeting was used, it symbolized, in the German mind, at the subconscious or unconscious level, the position of the excited male organ ready to penetrate or strike and, at or near the conscious level, the meaning of 'Excellent, Splendid!'.

Moreover, it should be noted that the German word (verb) for 'challenge' - 'herausfordern' - literally means 'to demand to come forth'; thus, 'herausfordern' (challenge: Come forth!) and 'hervorragend' (answer: Protruding forth/Excellent!) exactly complement each other in the German language and culture.

'The German greeting' proved to be particularly flexible as it could be used not only to Hail Hitler (Heil Hitler!) but also, especially after the war had started, to Hail Victory (Sieg Heil!) and thus openly communicate to everyone what the ultimate objective of war is: Victory!

It can also be noted that, in the German language and culture, which clearly has the unmistakeable imprint of the values and behavioral traits of the male sex (as evidenced from above), setting and reaching goals (etwas erzielen - to reach or achieve something) is of paramount importance. And one gets a sense of the overall priority of values in the German culture from the succinct proverb in German: Ende gut, alles gut. (If the end is good, all is good.) (see note 1)

The above is an illustration of just one important example of Hitler's extraordinary ability, through the deliberate and careful use of powerful symbols, to communicate with and manipulate the German people, thus being, in their eyes, a virtual God-like figure and Führer (leader). (see note 2)

Now to the important question why Hitler believed it was his mission in life to annihilate the Jewish people. In Martin Gilbert's book The Holocaust (pp. 27-28), Hitler is quoted as having written in Mein Kampf the following:

"Should the Jew, with the aid of his Marxist creed, triumph over the people of this world, his Crown will be the funeral wreath of man kind, and this planet will once again follow its orbit through ether, without any human life on its surface, as it did millions of years ago. And so I believe today that my conduct is in accordance with the will of the Almighty creator. In standing guard against the Jew I am defending the handiwork of the Lord."

Note well here that in referring to 'the Jew', Hitler is using the term in an impersonal and collective sense, each individual of the Jewish culture and religion thus being the object of his animosity. But why such vehement hatred against the Jew?

As just illustrated here above, what Hitler 'knew' - or probably understood subconsciously or intuitively - is the power of the Word. For it is clear that those who are the most hungry for power invariably strive to control and manipulate the Word, because, as we know from the beginning of John's wise Gospel,

"In the beginning was the Word (Logos), and the Word was with God, and the Word was God."

Thousands of years ago certain men of the elite class (i.e. the priestly class) knew very well and fully the power of the Word, because human beings tend to do or become what they are named or called to do. Briefly put, in a very real sense, the 'Word' is man's 'God'.

Just to give one specific example, let us consider the single most challenging problem the Chinese people face at the present time: overpopulation with a preference for sons to daughters, thus causing a severe disturbance to the natural birth ratio of females to males.

Several years ago, on a rather strong hunch that this problem in the Chinese society is most likely related to something in their basic cultural/linguistic background, I purchased and began to browse through some very basic glossaries of Chinese ideograms or characters called Fun With Chinese Characters. Although I was prepared for a long search, to my great astonishment, I found exactly what I was looking for at the very beginning of the very first booklet in the set!

On page 1, there is a character 'nü', ,which means 'woman; girl; daughter'. Since 'nü' refers to a person which one can physically see, it is a literal character (as opposed to figurative or derived character).

On page 2 of the same booklet is the second character 'zi', which is also a literal character and means 'infant; child; son'.

And, on page 3, we have the first derived or figurative character which combines 'nü' with 'zi' to form 'hao': . And what does 'hao' mean? 'Good; right; excellent'!

Thus, by having a child - preferably a son - every Chinese woman is only doing what she is naturally supposed to do and, because it is natural, it is 'good, right, excellent'.

Given the clear 'message' (i.e. instruction for desired action) of the word 'hao', it should be no wonder at all to the Chinese why they have a problem with overpopulation as well as a preference for sons! But the Chinese people are, as a culture, apparently oblivious to much of the influence of their words, and the origins of those words, on their subconscious mind, just as the average speaker of German - even someone with a high level of education - is completely ignorant of the original meaning of 'hervorragend', even though it clearly has an influence on their behavior in the subconscious mind, a phenomenon which Hitler and the Nazis fully exploited for their own evil designs.

Now, if we turn to the problem of anti-Semitism throughout the world, in the context of what we know about the Jewish religion - namely, that the Jewish religion is an ideology of cultural distinctness and/or superiority - it is relatively easy to understand why the 'Gentiles' (i.e. everyone outside the Jewish faith and culture) are 'upset' with the Jews. Because, by arrogating for the Hebrew people the epithet 'God's Chosen People', the patriarchs of Judaism raised their people and culture to a special class of elitism to which no one outside of their culture and religion, which is non-proselytizing, can ever aspire to join! (see note 3)

Therefore, the impetus and rationale for Hitler's Endlösung or Final Solution: Ausrottung der Judenheit (Extermination of Jewry). Because Hitler could logically 'reason' that the only way for the Aryan race to ever gain a position of dominance in the world was first to annihilate every single living member of God's Chosen People!

In the context of what was explained in chapter one of this thesis, it is now possible to understand what must be one of the most closely guarded 'secrets' in the (Western) world: the reason for anti-Semitism and why Hitler so hated the Jew. (see note 4)

And the ultimate, supreme irony of this 'secret' is that it is no 'secret' at all to the collective unconscious of mankind (to use a Jungian turn of phrase). Because, just as with the example above in the Chinese language, or 'hervorragend' in the German language and countless other examples in all the world's languages and cultures, man's primary behavior is driven by the unconscious, not the conscious. And the proof that ancient wise men knew the power and influence of the unconscious is their 'invention' or selection of the word 'subject' to denote the 'actor' or 'doer' of the action. Because 'subject' literally means 'thrown under' and thus clearly indicates that the actor's actions are driven by the subconscious mind!

Moreover, there are now and have been for several thousand years a few individuals in the world who know all the above at the conscious level - namely, that the 'Word' is man's 'God' and makes man like 'God', since at least the time of (the creation of) 'Adam' and 'Eve' and their 'original sin' by eating of the 'fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil' - in other words, acquiring the 'Word' or 'language', language being the single most important aspect of man which distinguishes him from all the rest of earth's creatures and the means by which man can have knowledge of good and evil.

Some of those individuals can be found in the single largest, most wealthy, and most powerful supranational institution in the world - the Roman Catholic Church. How can we know? Because a universal feature in language - language in this sense being synonymous with the 'Word' and, hence, 'God' - is that the speaker (i.e. user or 'subject') of the Word has three persons. For example, if I am speaking, I am the first person, if being spoken to, the second person, if being spoken of, the third person. Therefore, it can now be understood that the doctrine of the Trinity in Christianity - 'God' being one in substance, but three in "person", Father, Son and Holy Spirit - is a guise for the Word and its speaker ('subject').

Thus, it is man's capacity to learn and use the Word (language) which makes him like 'God', in the sense of being a 'creator'. From Genesis 1:27:

So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

Now, in order to understand more clearly how the Word (language) makes man like 'God', let's take a close look at the opening 4 verses in John's Gospel 1:1-4:

1 In the beginning was the Word (Logos), and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

2 The same was in the beginning with God.

3 All things were made by him (the Word/God); and without him (the Word/God) was not any thing made that was made.

4 In him (the Word/God) was life (meaning); and the life (meaning) was the light (truth) of men.

What exactly does this mean? How can the 'Word' be equated with 'God', and 'God', in turn, equated with the 'Word'?

In Japanese and the Japanese (p. 48), sociolinguist Takao Suzuki writes that:

"Most people hold that objects exist independently of language and that words are then devised as labels for them, but I believe, on the contrary, that words create things." (my bold)

"I do not, of course, mean that at the birth of the universe, when emptiness prevailed, words alone existed. Moreover, when I say that words create things, I do not mean that words bring forth objects as hens lay eggs. I mean, rather, that we recognize fragments of the universe as objects or properties only through words, and that without words, we could not even distinguish dogs from cats."

Thus, it is by means of Words that we 'create', 'give a structure to', and 'understand' the world in which we live. As John explains:

In him (the Word/God) was life (meaning); and the life (meaning) was the light (truth) of men.

Now we can understand how, in a very real sense, from the perspective of man, the 'Word' is (like) 'God'. Without the Word (language), human beings would be like a computer (hardware) without software (a program or language) and thus incapable of even distinguishing 'dogs from cats', as Takao Suzuki puts it.

Now, let's take a closer look at the Word itself. Where does the 'Word' come from?

First of all, it should be noted that the etymology or origin of 'Word' is associated with that for 'Verb', that part of speech which denotes some form of (creative) action, occurrence, or state of being.

Further, it can be readily shown that the 'Verb' is the creative element behind most, and perhaps all, words which denote what we perceive as 'objects' (i.e. nouns), just as no physical object can ever be brought into being or made without some process or activity taking place. For instance, from the example above about the origin of the word 'subject', we can see that this word was brought into being or created as the result of (something) being 'thrown under'. Otherwise stated, a process - being thrown under - leading to a result, the word 'subject'.

Now let's see how the Word/Verb affects human behavior.

In order for man to communicate with himself, words are created or derived, on the basis of a symbolic relationship with natural processes or logical associations, to direct his behavior as desired. This desired behavior, in turn, takes on a positive evaluative and thus 'prescriptive' meaning which becomes the extended or figurative, and thus 'surface' meaning of the word. (example: the Chinese ideogram 'hao' (having children (sons)/procreation = 'good; right; excellent').

After a while (i.e. usually a few or several generations later), the origins of these derived or figurative words (i.e. 'verbs') are forgotten or ignored by the conscious mind, although the original meanings of these words (i.e. instructions for action or 'messages') remain fully understood by, and continue to communicate with, the subconscious mind because of the symbolic association with their origin.

This explains why derived or figurative words, like 'hervorragend' in the German language and culture, or 'hao' in the Chinese language and culture, always have at least two levels of meaning - that associated with the origin of the word in the subconscious mind and that associated with the extended, present-day and 'surface', meaning at the conscious level. When the link between the two levels of meaning is broken or lost we may become completely oblivious to the fact that our behavior is under the control of the subconscious mind and this behavior, in turn, may no longer be in harmony or even may be in direct conflict with what we desire or are striving for at the conscious level. When this occurs, we have fallen prey to whatever our subconscious mind directs us to do; in other words, we have become enslaved to the hidden meaning (i.e. 'message') of the word. Briefly put, the Word/Verb becomes an authoritarian/tyrannical 'God'. To wit: the problem the Chinese presently have with overpopulation and the preference for sons. (see note 5)

Further, the above process of evolution in the effect words (ideograms, symbols, etc.) have on our behavior is most likely the explanation for the origin and originally intended meaning of the word 'religion': re-, back + ligare, to bind; 'religion' thus meaning literally 'binding back ' and intended to describe the phenomenon of a word controlling man's thoughts, and thus, behavior, at the subconscious level continuously since creation of the word and thus directly linking its effect on the human mind and actions to the remote and, by implication, long since forgotten, past. Of course, in this sense, 'religion' could be used to describe any present-day behavior (belief and action) which is influenced or controlled by paradigms established in the past - and that accounts, by definition, for everyone's (subconscious) behavior except those who have not yet learned a language and been enculturated: infants and (very) young children.

Compare also the passages in Revelation making reference to Alpha and Omega, the first one of which is Revelation 1:8:

I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.

The reference here is to the letters which begin and end the Greek alphabet, all words in Greek using one or another combination of letters in the Greek alphabet for their formation. Thus, the statement about 'Alpha and Omega', in turn, relates back directly and logically to John's opening statement in his Gospel:

"In the beginning was the Word (Logos), and the Word was with God, and the Word was God."

In light of all the above, it is apparent that the only way for man to begin to solve the conflicts and problems he has created for himself through his words and language is for him to turn back to the past in order to know again the origins of the words he has created so he can again become conscious of - and thus understand - what is happening at the subconscious level, and then discard, modify, or otherwise go around or beyond what is no longer needed, desired, or appropriate for present-day circumstances.

Since the search for our origins necessarily involves a deliberate process of going beyond our existing paradigms, something often considered taboo by society, this process necessarily also involves exercising our free will, something which every human being does freely and naturally at birth, but which gradually falls under the influence of language and culture which impose rules, procedures, values and, thus, limits, on our behavior. Briefly put, paradigms or structures are created through the interaction of language and culture which establish the framework in which all our thoughts, values and actions take place (cf. the Benjamin Whorf hypothesis). While these paradigms serve a useful - in fact, indispensable - purpose in structuring our thinking and behavior, they also can and frequently inhibit us from exploring creative and original solutions to new challenges. Thus, once enculturated, every human being becomes, in a very real sense, his or her own Türhüter (Doorkeeper) (cf. Der Türhüter in the book Der Prozeß / The Trial / by Franz Kafka). (see note 6)

In addition to the effect that (verbal) words have on our behavior, it is evident that words of a descriptive (attributive) nature, although perhaps originally intended to communicate a straight-forward 'superficial' meaning, typically take on very quickly subtle and not-so-subtle shades of other meaning. For example, when referring to the physical height of a person, the word 'tall' not only describes a 'long' height but also connotes something distinctly positive, at least in Occidental civilization, whereas the opposite word 'short' evokes a negative nuance of meaning. In German, the word 'polnisch' (Polish), although perhaps originally intended to denote only a nationality, has a distinctly negative, condescending, and pejorative connotation. And, in the American English culture and language, it is impossible to mention a person's ethnic background or the color of their skin without any choice of word immediately taking on one or more shades of evaluative meaning, usually negative (for any word other than 'white'). This explains the transition over several years from the use of 'Negro' to 'Black' to 'Afro-American', each change made in an attempt, unsuccessfully, to denote this 'race' without at the same time connoting some form of evaluative or derogatory meaning.

Because of this typical, and apparently universal, linguistic phenomenon with words, despite the best of intentions, whenever we speak or write there will always be some undesired connotations and meanings that are conveyed, especially at the subconscious level, to those who are listening or reading. Given this unavoidable aspect of language, it becomes all the more apparent how supremely important and wise is Jesus' new commandment to 'love one another' (as Jesus loved his disciples). Clearly, this commandment has to be understood and executed completely and unconditionally at the conscious level. In other words, if there is ever to be true peace on earth, each and every human being must consciously and conscientiously strive to love his or her fellow human beings, especially those whom they consider to be their 'enemies'.

While this may be far from easy, we have the benefit of the Message from Jesus Christ who, by his example, showed us the way to the Light (Truth). From John 1:5-18:

5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.

6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.

7 The same came for a witness (Jesus Christ), to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.

8 He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.

9 That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.

10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.

11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not.

12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father), full of grace and truth.

15 John bare witness of him, and cried, saying, This was he of whom I spake, He that cometh after me is preferred before me: for he was before me.

16 And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace.

17 For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.

18 No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.

And in the Words of Jesus Christ as recounted by John 3:16-21:

16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. (see note 7)

19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.

21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

From Jesus' Words it is clear that those whose designs are wrong or evil seek to hide from the truth and seek to hide the truth from those over whom they wish to exercise power and control. Such was the conduct of Hitler and the Nazis; such is the conduct of those who are privy to and support the objectives of supremacist groups and secret societies. But hiding the truth and hiding from the truth can only bring mankind greater and greater troubles. Making public the truth, on the other hand, will set mankind free.

It is clear from current events that the World is gradually becoming more and more conscious of the fact that all human activities, including - especially - thought, are highly interrelated and interdependent. One notes in this regard that the typically male behavioral characteristic of 'competitiveness' in society (where truth is often held hostage to vested interests) is gradually giving way to a new social value - that of 'cooperation' (i.e. sharing the truth freely), a trait characteristic of the female sex.

As if to confirm this, astrology tells us that we are in the process of embarking on a New Age - The Age of Aquarius.

Since Biblical scholars place the birth of Jesus Christ in the year 4 B.C.E. or even a year or two earlier than that, serious considration should be given to 'correct' the Gregorian calendar by setting it ahead appropriately. There are at least two important reasons for giving serious consideration to doing this:

1) The calendar would then be in synchrony, and thus factually accurate (to the best of our knowledge), with the actual year of Christ's birth.

2) We could skip over the next few years of nasty troubles prophesied (or perhaps prepared - largely as self-fulfilling prophecies?) for mankind by Nostradamus (see note 8).

Interestingly enough, a draft of "An interpretation of the meaning of the life, 'death' and 'resurrection' of Jesus Christ from a cultural point of view" was written on 20-21 January 1996, a first draft of an Addendum to the New Testament written 27 January - 4 February 1996, and a first draft analyzing the two different levels of meaning with figurative or derived words largely written by 18 February 1996. That means that much of the thinking and writing in these three papers occurred during the Sign of Aquarius: 20 January - 18 February. Therefore, based on an adjustment of our present calendar in order to be in synchrony with Christ's birth, much of the above was produced during the Sign of Aquarius in the year (2000) several seers predicted for beginning the Age of Aquarius (see note 9).

Isn't it amazing how precisely accurate astrology is?!

NOTES (Chapter Two)

Central to Hitler's strategy in gaining power over the masses was the necessity of overcoming the freedom of the human will. From The Messianic Legacy, pp. 195-196:

" One of the most valuable sources of information on Hitler's own thinking is a man named Herman Rauschning. Rauschning was one of the earliest adherents to the Nazi party, joining in 1926. He soon became one of Hitler's most trusted colleagues and confidants and was made President of the Danzig Senate in 1933. By 1935, however, he had become genuinely alarmed at what was happening in Germany, and he fled, first to Switzerland, then to the United States. Deeming it essential to warn the world about the Third Reich, he published, in the years immediately prior to the war, two books in which he recounted much of Hitler's own conversation. From numerous extracts in Rauschning, it is apparent that Hitler knew full well what he was doing, and that the activation of the religious impulse in the German people was part of a meticulously calculated design. Paraphrasing Hitler, Rauschning says, 'He had made the masses fanatic, he explained, in order to fashion them into instruments of his policy. He had awakened the masses. He had lifted them out of themselves, and had given them meaning and a function (our italics). He then quotes Hitler directly:

'At a mass meeting ... thought is eliminated. And because this is the state of mind I require, because it secures to me the best sounding-board for my speeches I order everyone to attend the meetings, where they become part of the mass whether they like it or not, 'intellectuals' and bourgeois as well as workers. I mingle the people. I speak to them only as a mass.'

And further, as Hitler himself writes in Mein Kampf:

'In all these cases one deals with the problem of influencing the freedom of the human will (my bold). And that is true especially of meetings where there are men whose wills are opposed to the speaker and who must be brought around to a new way of thinking. In the morning and during the day it seems that the power of the human will rebels with its strongest energy against any attempt to impose upon it the will or opinion of another. On the other hand, in the evening it easily succumbs to the domination of a stronger will... The mysterious artificial dimness of the Catholic churches also serves this purpose, the burning candles, the incense...' "
Because of the extremely powerful symbolism of the Nazi salute in the German language and German mind, since WWII German law forbids the use of this symbol. On the other hand, while it is not forbidden for one to respond with 'Hervorragend!' to the question 'Wie geht es Ihnen?', convention in German now calls for the use of a more suitable and milder form of response such as simply 'Gut' (good) or, the stronger 'Ausgezeichnet' ('excellent', in the sense of 'distinguished', and thus not associated with the phallic symbolism in the word 'hervorragend').
In Jews, God and History (p. 29), the author traces the origin of the epithet 'God's Chosen People' back to Abraham's strange experience in meeting 'the Lord God "Jehovah" for the first time'.

"At this encounter between Abraham and God, it is God who proposes a covenant to the patriarch, who is now seventy-five years old. If Abraham will follow the commandments of God, then He, in His turn, will make the descendants of Abraham His Chosen People and place them under His protection. We must note here that God does not say that they shall be better - merely that they shall exist as a separate and distinct entity and be His people. How this is to be brought about is not revealed. God at this time stipulates only one commandment, and makes only one promise. The commandment is that all males of His Chosen People must be circumcised on the eighth day after birth, or, if converted into the faith, then circumcised upon conversion. The promise is the land of Canaan."

My question: Why did God stipulate, as His only commandment to Abraham, that he (Abraham) must circumcise himself, and that all male descendants of His Chosen People must be circumcised on the eighth day after birth?

Pursuing an answer to that intriguing question is a detailed study in itself beyond the scope of this paper. However, possible benefits from circumcision may have included (and still include): cleanliness and good health (elimination of smegma), reducing the possibility of premature ejaculation by Abraham (and his male descendants), improved sexual gratification for Sarah (and her female descendants), 'marking' all male descendants of Abraham or of his 'house' for ready identification, establishing a 'rhythm' or cycle for the male sex based on a 7-day week x 52 weeks = 364 days, roughly one sidereal year, while the (menstrual) cycle for the female sex is 28 days x 13 months = 364 days.

Was the 'Word of God' perhaps the 'Word of Sarah'?
The Jewish people - that is, descendants, or those who consider themselves to be the descendants, of the 12 tribes of Israel - can finally have the peace they so dearly desire (expressed clearly in their greeting 'Shalom'). However, the price for peace requires that they relinquish the epithet "God's Chosen People". Moreover, those Jews, as well as certain individuals outside the Jewish faith, who are privy to and know the full meaning of the Protocols of the Elders of Sion, and who also are conspiring and fighting among themselves for domination and control of the world, must cease this mad activity and agree to integrate into the body of mankind.

(Note: In Holy Blood, Holy Grail, after extensive research the authors conclude the following:
- "It can … be proved conclusively that the Protocols did not issue from the Judaic congress at Basle in 1897." (p.192)
- "There was an original text on which the published version of the Protocols was based. This original text was not a forgery. On the contrary, it was authentic. But it had nothing whatever to do with Judaism or an 'international Jewish conspiracy'. It issued, rather, from some Masonic organization or Masonically orientated secret society that incorporated the word 'Sion'." (p. 194)
- "The original text on which the published version of the Protocols was based need not have been provocative or inflammatory in its language. But it may well have included a program for gaining power, for infiltrating Freemasonry, for controling social, political and economic institutions. Such a program would have been perfectly in keeping with the secret societies of the Renaissance, as well as with the Compagnie du Saint-Sacrement and the institutions of Andrea and Nodier." (alleged grand masters of the Prieuré de Sion) (p. 194)
Prefacing the above conclusions was the observation that "The text (of the Protocols) "speaks repeatedly … of the advent of a 'Masonic kingdom' and of a 'King of the blood of Sion' who will preside over this 'Masonic kingdom'. It asserts that the future king will be of 'the dynastic roots of King David'. It affirms that 'the King of the Jews will be the real Pope' and 'the patriarch of an international church'. And it concludes in a most cryptic fashion, 'Certain members of the seed of David will prepare the Kings and their heirs … Only the King* and the three who stood sponsor for him will know what is coming'."

"For the last two millennia the only 'king of the Jews' has been Jesus himself - and Jesus, according to the Gospels, was of the 'dynastic roots of David'.") (pp. 193-194)

* If we assume that the (real) King of the Jews is God/the Word (Logos), manifest as Truth, then the three who stood sponsor for him logically might be the three ages of history described by Joachim of Fiore in his work Expositio in Apocalypsim: the Age of the Father (the Age of the Old Testament: Mosaic Law), the Age of the Son (the Age of the New Testament: Faith), and the Age of the Holy Spirit (the Age now beginning to dawn: Love and spiritual knowledge). Thus, the doctrine of the trinity in Christianity is in essence a symbolic representation of the historical evolution of the effect of the Word (Logos) upon man and his behaviour.
Herewith the logical explanation for the origin and originally intended meaning of 'original sin'. When acquiring language, man did not understand the power, influence and subtleties of what he was dealing with. Specifically, he failed to understand how the subconscious mind continues to be receptive to messages related to the origins of words long after they have been forgotten or ignored by the conscious mind. In this way man 'enslaved' himself to 'sin', not 'sin' in the present-day sense of transgression of a 'religious' or moral law, but rather in the original sense conveyed by the Hebrew or Greek words for 'sin': 'hhatta'th' or 'hamartia', respectively, the verb forms of which (Heb., hhata": Gr., hamartano) mean 'to miss' in the sense of missing or not reaching a goal, way, mark or moral goal. (Etymology of Hebrew and Greek words for 'sin' taken from Aid to Bible Understanding, p.1504)
The overwhelming power of language in forming the paradigms in which we think and live provides for a logical explanation why Eve is depicted in Genesis as having partaken of the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil before Adam. From the way reference is generally made to one's native tongue - mother tongue, langue maternelle, Muttersprache, moedertaal, etc., it is clear from which sex language is primarily acquired. Thus, the 'responsibility' for the macro-paradigm (i.e. language and culture) in which every human being lives can be laid in a very real sense at the doorstep of that individual's mother - in other words, the female sex. Of all the paradigms in which one lives, language is by far the most subtle and all-pervading paradigm - a virtually 'invisible' paradigm of thinking patterns, beliefs, and values for the 'average' human being who typically knows only one language and takes in and 'understands' all of life's experience through this single, most important portal.

From the above, it is also apparent why the Vatican is intransigent in not allowing women to become priests. The reasoning: Since it is the female sex in the first place which teaches us the language we speak and thus largely 'programs' us to look at the world and think the way we do, it can hardly be expected that the same sex would free us from those same patterns of thinking (i.e. paradigms) when necessary so we can be free to create innovative solutions to meet the challenges of a continually evolving world. On the contrary, this is the role of the male sex. Thus, the roles of the female sex and male sex in nature/life are fundamentally different, yet complementary, each playing a vital function in shaping life processes.
Of the many mysteries surrounding Jesus, one of the most profound and controversial is that in which he refers to himself as the 'Son of God', the ostensible reason why the (Jewish) chief priests and officers called for his death:

"The Jews answered him (Pilate), We have a law, and by our law he ought to die, because he made himself the Son of God." (John 19:7)

At the same time there are several passages in the Gospels where Jesus refers to himself, or is referred to, as the 'Son of man', a title which he apparently preferred to the epithet 'Son of God'.

The question thus arises: How could Jesus be both the 'Son of God', implying thereby a divine nature, while at the same time also the 'Son of man' and thus have a human (mortal) nature?

I propose for this paradox the following explanation:
- The fact that there is an intelligible and knowable structure to the world and universe is evidence of a Supreme Creator (God). Man's way of knowing about this structure is through language, a 'system' of words derived from meaningful associations in this intelligible world and universe. In this way, and through this association, the Word (Logos) (of God) is, in a very real sense, 'divine'. This explanation is supported both by John's opening verse in his Gospel and by Revelation.
- The name 'Jesus' comes from the Hebrew 'Jehoshua', meaning 'Salvation (or Help) from God'; 'Christ' means 'Anointed One'. Thus, in carrying out what he was named or called to do (i.e. fulfilling his 'vocation'), Jesus was obeying the Word (and thus the Will) of God. Therefore through his actions, and thus his Message, Jesus was, in the truest sense of the word, the 'Son of God', while, at the same time, as a human being, and thus mortal, the 'Son of man'. This then, along with the 'resurrection', would explain the belief in Jesus' dual nature (human and divine), although, as already explained in Chapter One (note 8), Jesus was only human and not divine.
According to Holy Blood, Holy Grail (p. 170), there is evidence that Nostradamus may have been an agent for the houses of Guise and Lorraine. If true, "Many of Nostradamus' prophecies may not have been prophecies at all. They may have been cryptic messages, ciphers, schedules, timetables, instructions, blueprints for action."

"Our research revealed an additional fragment that linked Nostradamus even more directly to our investigation. According to Gérard de Sède, as well as to popular legend, Nostradamus, before embarking on his career as prophet, spent considerable time in Lorraine. This would appear to have been some sort of novitiate, or period of probation, after which he was supposedly 'initiated' into some portentous secret. More specifically he is said to have been shown an ancient and arcane book, on which he based all his subsequent work. And this book was reportedly divulged to him at a very significant place - the mysterious Abbey of Orval, donated by Godefroi de Bouillon's foster mother, where our research suggested the Prieuré de Sion may have had its inception. In any case, Orval continued for another two centuries to be associated with the name of Nostradamus. As late as the French Revolution and the Napoleonic era books of prophecies purportedly authored by Nostradamus were issuing from Orval."

And from Millennium Prophecies: Predictions for the Year 2000, p. 51:

"It was reputed that he (Nostradamus) was of Jewish descent, yet his family had converted to Christianity. Nostradamus claimed to be descended from one of the ten lost tribes of Israel, the Issachari, who were noted for their prophetic gifts. They were astrologers because they were 'men that had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do.' (Chronicles I, 12:32) He even claimed to possess the skills of the three magi who had foretold the birth of Christ fifteen centuries earlier."
From Millennium Prophecies: Predictions for the Year 2000, p. 118:

"There are many prophecies which agree that the Millennium year is 2000, among them those of Nostradamus, Edgar Cayce, St. Malachy, Garabandal, Fatima and other Christian prophets. Margaret Hone in The Modern Textbook of Astrology gives the year 2000 as a 'symbolic date' for the New Age. The seer Catherine Emmerich believed that Lucifer would be unchained 50 or 60 years before the year 2000. The theory of The Divine Plot, by this author, is an astrological model of the historical process expressing multiple cyclic world ages, and it projects a transition to a new world age in the year 2000."

From Thought Signs, pp. 592-593:

"The sign for Aquarius is comprised by two parallel signs which in all known civilized societies on our planet have been ideograms for water, the one substance after plain air that we humans need to survive. They do not, however, by their double appearance in the sign, represent a lot of water (as ideographical doubling would normally indicate). In fact the sign does not represent ordinary water at all, but the river of awareness flowing from the source of intuition and the lake of knowledge, available to every man and woman. That awareness includes the recognition that not only all men and women are brothers and sisters, but that all sentient beings are. With that awareness we become conscious of life in all its ramifications.

The ruling planet of Aquarius is Uranus. That planet stands for our ability to perceive and think freely in spite of being exposed to modern science's most formidable means of indoctrination - the TV-programs. Uranus also stands for empathy, electronics, space travel, the desire to overcome all communication barriers, all hinders (sic: i.e. hindrances) for human growth, for the development of decent societies, and for the realization of a true fellowship with all sentient beings everywhere, including elephants, cows (sic: perhaps /female/ whales?) and dolphins, and beings on far away planets.

The transition into this epoch was marked by the creation of humanity's thitherto most destructive weapon, the atom bomb. But according to the symbolism of esoterical astrology this age, which will last until about 4100 C.E., will be an epoch of humanism, of expansion of knowledge and consciousness, and of social and scientific progress."

My comment:
Aquarius means 'water-bearer'. All life on terra firma, both flora and fauna, bears water because water is contained within us, not outside of us, thus allowing us to be surrounded by air. By contrast, in the world of the fish (Pisces), water is contained not only within life but also completely surrounds it.
